He’s ba-a-a-a-ck!
On the first of August, Father Gary returns from his vacation. The Sunday class will resume, and the Vestry meeting will take place on the fourth Sunday of the month, August 29, following the coffee hour.
This would seem an appropriate time to thank Father Jefferson Stephens, the retired head of the Chandler School in Pasadena, who filled in so ably for Father Gary while he was on vacation. It’s always a pleasure to welcome Father Stephens back to Saint Luke’s.
______
There will be an Altar Guild meeting on the last Saturday of the month, August 28, in the Adult Library at 9:00 AM
______
While the choir is off for the summer, we have been having occasional soloists and small groups. Most of the choir, however, will gather on August 8 when we say farewell to Paul Larsen, our loyal singer and resident Latin Scholar. The choir will return to weekly services on September 12.
In the meantime, we have a retrospective of the 2009-2010 choir season on our bulletin board in the Parish House.
-- Kent B. Jones
Director of Music
______
And at the time, it seems appropriate for the entire parish to express its thanks and appreciation to Paul and Kim Larsen, not only for Paul's participation in the choir, but for all the other things he and Kim have done for St Luke’s, including Paul's role as junior warden on the Vestry, in the resolving the legal challenges faced by the Parish, his invaluable help whenever asked, and getting the tower chimes working again. We’re sorry to see him go, but we understand that his new position in Santa Barbara is very rewarding. Again— thank you, Paul!
